I was never really a G.I. Joe fan, I'd read some of the Marvel comics run years ago so I was familiar with the characters but I only ever thought they were ok.

To be honest I'd been avoiding this movie because I'd expected it to be a steaming pile of crap but I was given the DVD as a gift so I thought I'd better watch it - the first half of the movie is terrible, it's just soooooooo boring but then the movie kicks into gear during the attack on Paris and remains a fun ride until the end.

I think they made a mistake trying to do tell character origins in the film, I think they should've concentrated on the main story and then if they got to produce sequels concentrate on a couple of characters and reveal their backstory.

This movie has a weak story, some terrible acting, completely ingnores the laws of physics ( especially in the underwater sequences ) and the entire plot relies on an incredible string of coincidences rather than decent storytelling but somehow the final half of the movie is pretty decent.

I wouldn't spend money to see G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra but it's worth a look if you can catch it on TV or borrow a copy from a friend.

I have been kicking around this idea for another podcast for almost a year now and finally got it going.

It's called the TV Lounge. In it my son and I do recaps and reviews of older tv series. We don't talk about anything current. We want to discuss programs like the 1967 Invaders, 1991 Eerie, Indiana and more. The ones we want to cover have a scifi flavor. No sitcoms or reality shows.

The first series we are working through is Crime Traveller (yes - two L's in traveller - it's British). The show only had 8 episodes and ran on the BBC in 1997. It's about a police detective and a police scientist who use a time machine to travel back in time to view how a crime was committed in order to solve it.

We only have two episodes on the website so far but are in the process of recording more.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

You can check us out at http://tvloungepodcast.blogspot.com/

And now....back to your regularly scheduled forum.

I picked up the second series pretty cheap last week, I'm not sure why but I never saw many of the second season episodes ( and none of the third ) but so far this seems like a step in the right direction, the idea of a show based on plausable science is one that I find appealing but I felt the show needed a little less science and a little more fiction.
Of course getting rid of the annoying Wesley Crusher clone along with the talking dolphin would've been good ideas as well.

Set in the present day, Survivors focuses on the world in the aftermath of a virulent disease that scoured the planet, wiping out 99% of the human race. Only a lonely few are left to start over in a devastated world where everything that was once safe and familiar is now strange and dangerous.

A bewildered but resilient group of survivors is led by Abby Grant, a woman whose strength comes from a burning need to find out if her young son is still alive. Other members of the group include Greg (a good man who hides the pain of his past), Anya (a doctor who has seen too many people die) and Al, a former playboy who becomes surrogate father to streetwise urchin Najid. Then there is Tom, outwardly handsome and charming, but actually a dangerous and ruthless man who, unbeknown to the others, was a high-security prisoner before the virus hit.
